- Division is repeated subtraction. Let's do 12 ÷ 3 in the rightmost column.
- Set 12: Slide the red bead down (5) and all 4 blue beads up (4), then add 3 more (clear and set to 12).
- Subtract 3 four times: Slide 3 blue beads down each time (9, 6, 3, 0). Count 4 subtractions!
- The value should be 0 to show 12 ÷ 3 = 4!
